Keeping Kids Occupied

-----

Kids are nice to watch when they are doing their own thing.  You do not need to worry about constantly keeping them entertained or occupied while you work.  Keeping a waiting room toy beside him all the time helps him play on his own.  Using his imagination, he is able to go to places and experience things that only exist in his mind.  A healthy imagination is okay because children are able to express themselves.  In addition, creativity can develop because he is able to visualize the things that he likes.  Just try to go along with his imagining and be amazed of what he “sees”.

It kids normally have a short span for attention.  You would admire teachers who patiently teach toddlers the basics without loosing their temper.  Providing a waiting room toy can make their attention focus on them since the toy is up for stake.  Making the lessons lively and interesting is yet another skill that most pre-school teachers need to have.  Making the kids actually listen and absorb what they are saying is a tough job.  Perhaps the fulfillment after the class is one thing that teachers look forward because they know that at least one child truly understands the lesson.

Nursery rhymes, games and the likes are among the few things schools have during class time.  They want children especially the little ones to enjoy learning.  When the kid is able to remember the lesson, the parents might even observe the child when a waiting room toys is given.  There are times that the kids sing the nursery rhymes to the toys they have thinking they are alive just like them.  Sometimes, children eagerly show off what they have learned in school to their parents as soon as they come home from a day’s work.

Parents should acknowledge the newfound wisdom that the little one has acquired.  Rewarding the child with one waiting room toy is okay.  Giving him things that he likes such as candy can also be a part of the gifts given to him for a job well done at school.  Nevertheless, children must understand that doing well in school is necessary not because of the gifts but because it will be helpful to him once, he graduates.  Not everyone has the chance to be educated so he should grab this opportunity to really learn and get good grades in school.

Giving him a waiting room toy that will enhance his abilities is better rather than just picking out the first toy that you see.  No matter how much the toy is, the child does not give importance to it.  He has not yet understood the value of money.  Nevertheless, as adults/parents, it is your job to tell him as early as possible that money is not easy to earn.  Before buying an item, you should ask your child if it is practical to have one of it.  Let him realize the value of the item, if he says that he can live without it, better.
