Kids Toys - Be Wary of the Dangers of Toys

Playtime is a wonderful learning period for children. It should be a part of a daily schedule since playing is an essential aspect in child development.

Through playing, children learn to harness the fullness of their physical and mental potential. Playing teaches them to become imaginative. Playing with others teaches them to be friendly, cooperative, fair, and sharing.

Of course, kid toys are important tools during playtime. Most children consider toys as integral to their games; indeed, most children’s games involve a toy of some sort, and that toy can be as simple as a ball, a stick, or a set of marbles or as complex as battery-operated robots and remote-control cars.

However, the seemingly innocent act of playing with toys can pose a danger not only to a child but also to the rest of the people in the household. Here are some of instances when a seemingly lovable toy can become hazardous objects.

1. Toys left on the floor
Children love to play on the floor with their toy cars and trains. The problem comes after playtime. Due to exhaustion, most kids just leave their toys on the floor, and this act of negligence can be dangerous.

A person can step on the toy and slip. If the fall is hard enough, that person can break a bone or two or can damage the surrounding furniture. That is why it is important to put back toys for kids to their proper place after playing, and kids should be taught how to do that.

2. Toys with small parts
Expensive toys are notorious for having small parts, and some baby toys even feature detachable parts. Considering that babies and young children often put things in their mouths indiscriminately, these toys pose a real danger. Ingested parts can damage a child’s internal organs, ensuring a trip to the hospital.

That is why it is best to buy simpler, more solid toys for young children.

3. Toys that are chewed upon
Toddlers and babies like to chew things. This becomes a problem when they put toys that are lying on the floor into their mouths. Left on the floor, a best kids toys can become very dirty, a virtual community of harmful germs. When these dirty toys are chewed on, there is a likely chance that these disease-causing bacteria are ingested and can cause the child to become sick.

4. Toys that are not supposed to be toys but played on
Be careful in leaving items around the house; children often see these items as something fun to play with. For example, old batteries can be viewed as a kids and toys to play with, without the child knowing the harmful zinc and chemicals that compose a dry cell. The same goes for plastic bags. These bags can be made into makeshift masks, exposing the child to the risk of suffocation.

5. Toys that provide false perceptions
Some toys 4 kids are notorious for instilling in children’s minds a false perception of reality. This is quite common in today’s dolls wherein the doll’s body shape and figure is physically impossible to acquire in real life. But due to the child’s fascination with the toy, she might emulate the toy using those unrealistic standards no matter what.

Because it is impossible to achieve those standards, a child ends up in frustration. Such frustration can remain in the latter years.
